Odour Elimination

Pet Stains

  • Use a UV light (black light to find urine stains).
  • Use old rubber gloves or something similar when cleaning.
  • Clean with a mixture that is equal parts white vinegar and water, and soak up with old rags. The acid in the vinegar helps neutralise the ammonia in the animals’ urine.
  • Use diluted hydrogen peroxide with baking soda. Warning: this might affect the carpet colour
  • Use baking soda and leave overnight for difficult stains. Vacuum when finished.
  • Do not use ammonia cleaners here as they encourage some pets to re-use and re-stain the same area.

That was some neat tricks for removing pet stains from your living environments. Thank you to, AAA Cleaning Services for the tips and tricks.

Mobile Phones !

Chromecast allows one to display their mobile display screen on a television screen. This can already be done on Apple TV’s or a few other devices, but the Chromecast is dirt cheap at less than $50 dollars, and is easy to add onto whatever system you already have. Physically the Chromecast looks like 7cm worth of USB memory stick with a HDMI connector that plugs into a HD television or display. It needs power from a USB port, but otherwise it simply transfers the display from the mobile to the TV via WiFi, and even automatically switches the TV to the correct input. Its appeal is in its simplicity of use; it’s like plugging a in cable and getting on with business. Initially there were only a small number of Apps available, but this is rapidly changing; and if you just want to transfer the display from a Google chrome browser to the TV screen you don’t really need to add anything else to the system.

There are rival systems, which is usually good for driving down prices; but Chromecast is already so inexpensive there is a risk that customers will underestimate it capabilities and see it as the ‘cheap’ option. It really isn’t. Think of it as a connector to link between devices rather than a device in isolation. Want to watch you tube on the television? Just use this chromecast..

Enhancing Coffee

Particularly good in cold weather, preferably consumed indoors. After dinner, after a day skiing, possibly before bed if you prefer a de-caffeinated coffee.

Espresso Martini: One ounce of chilled espresso coffee with One and a half ounces of vodka or gin. Shake in an ice-filled cocktail shaker and serve.

Chocolate Mocha Latte: I part espresso, I part Kahlua, 2 parts skim milk and a few tablespoons of light chocolate syrup. Serve over ice.

Jamaican Coffee: mix 4/4 of an ounce of rum and ¾ an ounce of Kahlua with freshly brewed coffee. Add some whipped cream and perhaps some chocolate.

Hot White Russian: Mix hot coffee with one quarter parts cream, Kahlua and one eights part Vodka. Moderately eat in a saucepan and stir. Serve in a preheated mug, decorate with cream and perhaps grated chocolate.

Irish coffee: Usually just two tablespoons of Baileys with coffee, maybe with whipped cream and sugar; but if these classic ingredients aren’t enough you can add a Tablespoon of brandy, whisky and Cointreau.

Else mix Vodka infused coffee with caramel or chocolate sauce and garnish with whipped cream.

(Alcohol should not be consumed before exposure to cold conditions. It is best served when warming up afterwards.)

The Advantages of a Clean House

Be rid of Allergies: or at least drastically reduce them. Dust, dust mites, pollen can cause flu like symptoms, which make you less productive and make life a little miserable. Get rid of allergies, and asthma or respiratory issues with regular cleaning.

Be rid of Heath risks: sanitation gets rid of foodborne illnesses, like E. coli, staph or salmonella. These are bad enough for healthy adults, for infants they can be fatal. There are also substantiated links between bathroom hygiene (ie: a clean toothbrush) and cardiovascular health. Don’t risk serious infections or long term stain; keep things clean.

Increase safety: cluttered walkways and unorganised possessions increase the risk of injuries. A dirty floor is easier to slip on.

Do away with pests: Insects and even rodents will move into an untidy residence. A clean home will prevent this, and prevent the need of chemical deterrents. Maximise the insect resistance by using plants that naturally discourage pests.

Improve a Mental State: Not to be underestimated. There is such a thing as creative chaos, but anything more than a little chaos quickly becomes overwhelming and unproductive. A clean slate provides space for open thinking. There are a million ways to use neat and open space.

Encourages activity: A messy kitchen won’t encourage you to cook; you can’t even start cooking till you’ve started tidying up. The same goes for the whole house. No mess means you can get a clean start to whatever you are doing.

Canadian Visas !

Hi all !

Today I have a post about working holiday visas, more specifically in Canada !

I’ve always loved Canada, I’m not too sure why but it has always been a place that I’ve wanted to go to. If you are like me and love Canada, maybe you could get a Canadian working holiday visa. My current job is quite okay so there’s no need for me to go to Canada for a visa, but if you would like to try something new, why not give it a go. They also have tourist / visitor visas if you do not wish to work there.

Canadian Working Holiday Visa

Canadian Working Holiday Visas are granted under International Experience Canada (IEC). IEC manages Canada’s youth mobility arrangements and agreements for multiple countries around the world. These arrangements and agreements make it easier for people from these countries to obtain a work permit, allowing them to travel and work in Canada for up to 12 Months or 24 months. These visas under the IEC are available for people aged 18 – 35, who are from one of the countries that have a working holiday arrangement or with Canada.

Canadian Tourist / Visitor Visa

Maybe you don’t want to go to Canada looking for work, instead you could apply for the Tourist / Visitor Visa. However, there are some requirements which you need to fulfil to ensure that you are eligible for a tourist / visitor visa.

You must :

  1. Have a valid travel document, such as a passport
  2. Be in good health
  3. Satisfy an immigration officer that you have ties, such as a job, home, financial assets, family, that will take you back to your country of origin
  4. Satisfy an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit
  5. Have enough money for your stay. The amount of money you will need can vary with the circumstances of the visit, how long you will stay and whether you will stay in a hotel or with friends or relatives.

On top of this, you may also need:

  • A temporary resident (visitor) visa, depending on your citizenship
  • A medical exam
  • A letter of invitation from someone who lives in Canada

There are more requirements and they can be found here !

I missed last weeks post but hopefully it won’t happen again 🙂
